We welcome children aged from 15months to 24months into our Nursery programme. Children need not be toilet trained to attend our Nursery class. In our safe outdoor surroundings we offer our children the opportunity to move freely, developing both fine and gross motor skills, which are not only important from a physical standpoint, but also from a psychological one. We work closely with parents to support a healthy separation experience. We also provide daily communication as well as two parents/teachers conferences a year.
Dr. Montessori was one of the first educators to recognize that the first few years of a child's life are critical to the development of personality and intellect. At IMM we encourage children to use their bodies, senses, and emerging problem-solving skills to learn about and make sense of their world in the ways most meaningful and effective for them. We urge our children to demonstrate independence, and allow them the freedom to learn as much as they can.
At this age, our teachers recognize this is the beginning of control and coordination of mind and body for the children. We allow children to use concrete materials to learn math, movable alphabets to explore language: and cubes, cylinders and other objects to categorize, find spatial relationships, and more. At IMM the emphasis is on cognitive and social development, we encourage self-discipline. Our teachers have an unobtrusive role in the classroom.
By providing opportunities to create, build, touch, listen and watch, IMM delivers many opportunities for your child's personal growth. At this age children are starting to understand about other people's feelings. We encourage the children to cooperate with others, enabling them to work through conflicts and learn to control his or her emotions. We teach and use vocabulary related to reasoning and problem solving, allowing children to solve problems independently whenever possible.
At IMM we integrate the Montessori Method with conventional learning styles. We focus on the individuality of each child in respect of their needs or talents. We strive to help each child experience the joy of learning, to be happy, confident and fulfilled. At IMM we encourage independence by teaching children practical life skills. Our curriculum encourages a broad knowledge of English through phonics, a strong basis of Math and a foundation in Science in order to build awareness of the world we live in, the people and their cultures.
We encourage learners to embrace learning as an exciting process of discovery, leading to improved concentration, motivation, self-discipline and ultimately the love of learning. There is constant interaction, problem solving and socialisation. Our learners are well prepared academically, socially and emotionally. We provide encouragement and praise for learners efforts and create an environment that fosters decision-making, autonomy ,sharing and self-direction.We provide opportunities to role-play and practice new social skills. At IMM we expose learners to various stimuli designed to excite their five senses. We facilitate group discussions based on student observations, journals and writings.
